Follow Bastyr University alumni on a 1,300 mile journey as they take the book "Return to Nature", a favorite of the University's namesake, Dr. John Bastyr, to our new campus in San Diego, Calif. The trip is both a celebration of what would have been Dr. Bastyr's 100th birthday and of the opening of our new campus. The journey begins May 16 in Kenmore and ends Sept. 14 when it arrives at Bastyr University California for the campus' grand opening.

Assistant Professor Young Cho, PhD, a longtime member of Bastyr's Department of Basic Sciences, will join the San Diego faculty to share his expertise and promote continuity between the campuses. Hiring for an associate dean and additional positions continues through the spring.

We're happy to confirm that the California campus building will include a teaching clinic, Bastyr Natural Health Clinic. It will offer three treatment rooms and Bastyr faculty supervisors. The plan is to start small and expand the clinic in the coming years. The 2012 opening allows students to begin clinical observation in their first year, a feature of the redesigned naturopathic medicine curriculum.

We will have two forms of tutoring at the San Diego campus. For many classes, on-site local tutors will be available to help students. For some specialized course topics, we will have tutors from the Kenmore campus available via Skype/webcam.

With accreditation secured and applications flowing in, we can answer more of the California questions we're receiving.

Tuition will be the same as for the naturopathic medicine program at the Kenmore campus. Please see our graduate tuition page for more details.

Financial aid opportunities will be the same at both campuses, including both federal sources and University scholarships. Please see our Fund Your Graduate Degree page.

The Federal School Code required on federal forms is identical for both campuses: 016059.

This blog contains the most recent updates and developments for Bastyr University's San Diego campus, opening in fall 2012.

The San Diego campus will be located at 4106 Sorrento Valley Boulevard in the center of the city's life sciences cluster and approximately 14 miles north of downtown.

It lies within walking distance of the San Diego Coaster commuter train (which connects to more light-rail lines), and is within a short drive of the University of California-San Diego, Scripps Mercy Hospital and the VA San Diego Medical Center.
