This course guides you through a process of self-reflection in order to identify your specific relationships and situations where you have trouble saying “no”, or where you allow others to treat you in ways that feel disrespectful or unsafe. Clear information helps you gain insight into your underlying needs and resources in these situations, as well as the origins of your difficulties in this area.

Clear and concise information explores the connection between setting boundaries and continuing to grow as a person. Maintaining balance between authenticity and respecting others provides an essential ingredient for life-giving interdependence. Differences between setting boundaries in relationships with mutual affection and in other relationships are also clarified.

You will practice simple steps for setting a personal boundary in class and make a plan of realistic, personalized steps toward respectful self-care in the future.

Upon completion of the seminar you will be able to:

• List an adults’ healthy growth needs at all levels – including emotional, intellectual, physical and aspirational
• List situations and relationships where you have difficulty saying “no” or asking for what you need
• Identify the beliefs and experiences that undermine your ability to advocate for yourself
• Express personal boundaries in mutually-caring relationships as well as in other types of relationships
• State realistic, personalized steps toward respectful self-care

Mary Kolb, PhD is licensed as an educator through Personality and Human Relationships International.  Her private practice in Bellevue enables her to express her passion for guiding individuals, couples, and groups in discovering and expressing their unique gifts.
