Bastyr University located in Kenmore, Washington is internationally recognized as a pioneer in natural arts and health sciences education. Founded in 1978 as the John Bastyr College of Naturopathic Education, the university integrates the pursuit of scientific knowledge with the wisdom of ancient healing methods and traditional cultures from around the world. Today, Bastyr University is the largest university of natural arts and health sciences in the United States, combining a multidisciplinary education with leading edge research and clinical training. Bastyr offers more than 17 degree and certificate programs in fields such as naturopathic medicine, acupuncture and Oriental medicine, whole-food nutrition and holistic landscape design. Student clinical training takes place at Bastyr Center for Natural Health in Seattle's Fremont/Wallingford region and at many external sites throughout the region. The University's second campus, Bastyr University California, opened in San Diego, California in fall 2012, becoming the state's first and only accredited school of naturopathic medicine.
