Learn about Ayurveda, a traditional East Indian medical science, that uses natural methods to promote healing.

Bastyr Center for Natural Health is pleased to announce that you will be able to make a Team Care appointment for ayurvedic medicine starting September 28, 2014.

To help you learn more about the traditional East Indian medical science, you’re invited to the free talk “How Ayurvedic Medicine Can Help You” from 10:30 a.m. to noon Saturday, September 13, at Bastyr Center for Natural Health.

You will hear from Dhaval Dhru, MD, an ayurvedic medicine practitioner who will supervise Team Care visits and also sees patients in private practice in Practitioner Care at Bastyr Center. Dr. Dhru also is chair of the Bastyr University Department of Ayurvedic Sciences in the School of Traditional World Medicines.

Based on the 5,000-year-old medical traditions of India, ayurveda (“the science of life”) aims to help patients find and maintain balance by stimulating the body’s natural healing powers. The therapies involve minimal side effects and can include:

  • Specialized diets
  • Yoga, meditation
  • Herbal supplements
  • Massage and other body therapies
  • Gentle cleanses and detoxification (panchkarma)

Learn more in the article “Find Balance Through an Ayurveda Appointment at Bastyr Center.”

To help introduce you to this new addition at Bastyr Center, Team Care appointments in ayurvedic medicine start at $25 a visit in October and November 2014. You may take advantage of multiple $25 visits during the promotion, but you may only schedule one appointment at a time.

This talk is part of the free series of talks "Living Naturally: Conversations on Health and Happiness with Bastyr Experts," presented by Bastyr University and its teaching clinic, Bastyr Center for Natural Health. All of the talks take place at Bastyr Center for Natural Health in Seattle and feature an audience Q-and-A session. Missed a lecture in our series? Visit our YouTube Channel.
