Create more freedom and comfort in your body and mind with yoga. This class serves as an introduction for beginners as well as a practice enhancer for more experienced yogis. Each class session includes clear instruction, alignment-based movement, and breath work. You are encouraged to practice the yoga poses at your own level of comfort, and to rest whenever necessary. Oct 2 - Dec 11th, Thursdays, 6-7:15p.m. No class on Nov 27th. Heidi Fischer, Certified Yoga Teacher. (12.5 HRs)

Description: Each session will begin with a short seated meditation and breath work, followed by about 40 minutes of yoga poses at a moderate pace – including more detailed instruction and individual fine tuning. Next, background music will accompany the class as we move through poses in an easy but continuous flow (vinyasa). We’ll then wind down with simple seated and reclined poses, breath work, and finally savasana (the yoga resting pose of lying on the floor).

Wondering if this is the right yoga class for you? Go ahead and register, and attend the first class. If it’s not a good fit, contact us before the second class session and we’ll be happy to give you a full refund.

Upon completion of the seminar you will be able to:

  • Gently guide your body into poses that are appropriate for your level of fitness
  • Demonstrate standing and forward bending poses
  • Demonstrate seated and standing twists
  • Demonstrate semi-inversions (such as down dog)
  • Perform a sequence of seated, standing, semi-inverted, and reclined Hatha yoga positions with grace and ease
  • Practice with the breath to create a calm inner presence

Course Notes: Yoga mats, blankets, blocks and straps are provided but you may wish to bring your own. Wear loose-fitting comfortable clothing.

Location: Bastyr University Kenmore Campus, room # 25  Bastyr University is housed in an older facility with fluctuating interior temperatures; it is advisable to wear layers. Also, Bastyr is a “fragrance-free” campus.
