This seminar was originally held at Bastyr University in February 2012.
Using well researched material along with practical experience and examples, Dr. Anderson will help illuminate the underpinnings of neurobiology and neuropharmacology. The most common conditions encountered will be discussed with respect to assessment, appropriate medications and natural prescriptions, and how to navigate the line between the two. Topics relating to non-brain influences on neuropsychiatry will also be explored and related to practical interventions in practice. You will leave the presentation better equipped to handle practical interventions with this patient group.
Upon completion of this home study you will be able to:
- Describe the major areas of the brain and their relationship to neuropsychiatric conditions.
- List the most common pharmacologic agents for those conditions.
- Describe the most common natural products used in those conditions.
- Relate the common synergies and potential interactions between the pharmacologic and natural prescriptions.
- Practice to identify areas where non-brain conditions mimic, antagonize or synergize neuropsychiatric conditions.
Post-course quiz must be completed with a score of 75 percent or higher to receive CEUs.
