Ryan Bradley, ND, MPH
Research Assistant Professor 1
School of Naturopathic Medicine rbradley@bastyr.edu
Dr. Bradley's research focuses on two primary areas: evaluation of the clinical outcomes from "whole-practice" naturopathic care in diabetes and cardiovascular disease, and human translational research on oxidative stress in diabetes and vascular disease. Current studies include an NIH-funded observational study of adjunctive naturopathic medicine in Type 2 diabetes, a clinical epidemiologic study evaluating emerging oxidative stress biomarkers of endothelial dysfunction in the MESA cohort and a randomized, controlled clinical trial of natural mixed carotenes in a model of vascular disease. In addition to his current studies, he collaborates on studies of naturopathic dietary recommendations in diabetes, as well as, "whole practice" studies of naturopathy in cardiovascular disease in Canadian postal workers. Working with student researchers and postdocs, Dr. Bradley continues to collect and evaluate data on naturopathic practice at the Bastyr Center for Natural Health, including changes in clinical risk factors in cardiometabolic conditions, as well as, evaluating the delivery of preventive services. In addition to his research at Bastyr University, he is a research scholar in the Institute for Translational Health Sciences, at the University of Washington. Dr. Bradley developed and directs the Bastyr Center for Natural Health Diabetes & Cardiovascular Wellness Program, where he teaches an integrative approach to treating Type I & II diabetes, pre-diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and the metabolic syndrome.
