Dr. Andersen works on a variety of issues related to the health related quality of life and health related behavior of women with breast or ovarian cancer or at risk for breast or ovarian cancer. This research has included assessments of the influence of cancer worry on use of breast and ovarian cancer screening, studies of the influence of involvement in decision-making about cancer treatment on long-term health related quality of life during cancer survivorship, and studies of the potential use of women's self-reported symptoms as tool for improving the early detection of ovarian cancer. Her studies have also included examinations of the influence of complementary and alternative medicine use on screening for breast and ovarian cancer, and the impact of CAM use on use of conventional treatment for cancer.
