Using Gene Expression to Identify the Biologic Activity of a Homeopathic Drug
The specific mechanism of action of homeopathy is unknown, although it is thought to stimulate the self-healing response, most likely mediated by the immune system. Using the classical method of the Homeopathic Pathogenic Trial (also known as a proving study), we plan to compare the genomic response in those who receive homeopathic verum to those who receive a placebo. Finding a measurable difference in gene expression between these two groups could lead to a greater understanding of and scientific acceptance for homeopathy.
