Steve Given, DAOM, LAc

Dr. Steve GivenDr. Given serves as a clinical faculty member at Bastyr University's teaching clinic, Bastyr Center for Natural Health, supervising Chinese herbal medicine, acupuncture and Oriental medicine, and integrated pain management appointments. With a specialization in oncology and pain management, Dr. Given also supervises an oncology shift at Skagit Valley Hospital. In addition, Dr. Given serves in Bastyr's School of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine as associate dean for clinical education, and program director for the Doctor of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine program. He is the current vice president for the Council of Colleges of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine and site visit chair for the Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine.

Outside of his work with oncology and pain management, Dr. Given's interests include HIV/AIDS, substance abuse treatment, Chinese herbal safety, research in acupuncture and Oriental medicine, and the history of medicine.

Dr. Given earned a bachelor's degree in biology with an emphasis in microbiology from Portland State University in 1987; a master's degree in traditional Oriental medicine from Emperor's College of Traditional Oriental Medicine in Santa Monica, California, in 1992; and a Doctor of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine from Bastyr University in 2006.
