The ingredients in Relaxing Tea are useful not just for helping you unwind, but also to give your immune system a boost. Although chamomile is best known for its calming qualities, it also can help soothe any respiratory condition, explained Debra Brammer, ND, clinical dean of naturopathic medicine at Bastyr Center for Natural Health, during a talk called "Herbs to Support Immunity." She notes:
This lovely and tasty tea reduces anxiety and relaxes the mind and body. It can be drunk before bedtime to relax the mind for sleeping. Each person’s tolerance differs, so experiment to find your exact dose.
Dr. Brammer presented this recipe along with many others during her talk, which was part of the 2011 Living Naturally fall lecture series at the clinic. Watch the talk in its entirety and view Dr. Brammer’s other immune-boosting recipes via the article “Bastyr Dean Shares Recipes for Immunity.”
Mix together and use 1 teaspoon per mug of hot water or 2 to 3 tablespoons per tea pot.
