Sharon Gray, MS (’06), LAc, is one of many Bastyr graduates whose own health journey inspired her to join a healing profession. Now she's growing a practice and creating a cookbook that draws on crowd-sourced variations of a single simple recipe.

Carl Hangee-Bauer, ND

Bastyr alumnus Carl Hangee-Bauer, ND ('84), LAc, spent years leading the effort to license naturopathic doctors in California. Now he's at the helm of the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians.

Susie Hayes, MS, LAc

Susie Hayes studied acupuncture at Bastyr before going into practice. "My greatest referral source has been my patients," she says. "If they get results, they refer friends, family and even strangers. So I guess my marketing strategy is to do the best job I can with my existing patients."

Christy D. Hofsess, PhD

Dr. Hofsess is the clinical training director for the Master of Science in Nutrition and Clinical Health Psychology program. Her professional interests are an extension of her passion for issues related to training/supervision, multiculturalism/diversity and mind-body wellness.

Amy Johnson-Grass, ND, LM

Dr. Johnson-Grass is a nutritionist and naturopathic doctor in the Minnesota Children's Hospital Integrative Medicine Program, and she runs a private practice focused on women's health and pediatrics. She specializes in fertility counseling and oversees 30 to 50 births each year.

Alexandra Kazaks, PhD, RD

Dr. Kazaks is a core faculty member in the Department of Nutrition and Exercise Science. She is interested in the continuing study into the potential beneficial effects of fruit and vegetable consumption as an intervention for prevention and treatment of obesity, diabetes and cardiovascular diesease in adults and children.

Sheila Kingsbury, ND, RH (AHG)

Dr. Kingsbury is chair of the Botanical Medicine department and teaches pediatrics courses in the School of Naturopathic Medicine. She has a focus on natural therapeutics for children.
