Eric Yarnell, ND

Current Roles

Dr. Yarnell is a core faculty member in the department of botanical medicine at Bastyr and teaches in the schools of naturopathic medicine and herbal sciences. He is also an ND clinical supervisor at Bastyr Center for Natural Health. He is currently president of the Botanical Medicine Academy in Seattle, chief financial officer of Healing Mountain Publishing, Inc. and vice president of Heron Botanicals, Inc. Dr. Yarnell has also published and co-authored numerous books and articles.

Dr. Yarnell has completed a Bastyr University faculty seed grant researching the differences in medicines made from fresh versus dried herbs and is currently working on a research training grant provided as part of an R25 curriculum development grant awarded to Bastyr University by the National Institutes of Health.

Past Experience

Dr. Yarnell is the former chair of the department of botanical medicine at Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine. He completed a residency with Silena Heron, ND, in Arizona, and is the former senior editor of the Journal of Naturopathic Medicine.

Interests

Dr. Yarnell is has a special interest in foreign languages, kung fu, native plants, writing, and changing the world

Philosophy

Dr. Yarnell applies the Socratic method and uses interactive approaches in his teaching. In treating patients, he employs a comprehensive naturopathic approach with heavy reliance on botanical medicine.

Specialty

Dr. Yarnell specializes in men’s health, urology, nephrology, gastroenterology and botanical medicine.
