Ryan Bradley, ND, MPH

Current Roles

Dr. Bradley is a core clinical faculty member at the Bastyr University Clinic, where he sees patients, instructs medical students and directs the Diabetes & Cardiovascular Wellness Clinic.

In addition to his work at the Bastyr University Clinic, Dr. Bradley is the Associate Director of the Bastyr University Research Institute, leading research initiatives at the new Bastyr University California campus.

A recognized leader in naturopathic and integrative medicine for diabetes and heart disease, Dr. Bradley is an invited speaker by many organizations, including the American Diabetes Association; Diabetes Action, Research, and Education Foundation; the National College of Naturopathic Medicine, and for both the California Naturopathic Doctors Association and the Washington Association of Naturopathic Physicians.

Clinical Interests

Dr. Bradley's clinical specialties include: types I & II diabetes, pre-diabetes, metabolic syndrome, and vascular conditions including high blood pressure, elevated cholesterol, coronary artery disease, atrial fibrillation, chronic kidney disease and heart failure. Dr. Bradley uses traditional and cutting-edge risk assessment tools, including endothelial function testing, as routine elements in developing personalized plans for risk reduction and health optimization.

Healing Philosophy

Dr. Bradley believes it is never too late for optimal, holistic health and that naturopathic medicine always has something to offer along the path to wellness.

Past Experience

Dr. Bradley has over eight years of clinical research training in CAM and allopathic medicine, including the 5-year KL2 Multidisciplinary Clinical Research training program in the Institute for Translational Health Sciences at the University of Washington Medical Center in Seattle, WA. As a career clinician researcher, he has co-authored numerous peer-reviewed primary research articles in medical journals such as: Canadian Medical Association Journal (CMAJ), Diabetes, Diabetes Research and Clinical Practice, BioMed Central Complementary and Alternative Medicine, PLoS One, Global Advances in Health and Medicine, Explore, The Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine, Evidence-based Complementary and Alternative Medicine, and Integrative Medicine: A Clinician’s Journal. In addition to his publications, Dr. Bradley has presented original research at national and international diabetes conferences, including the American Diabetes Association, the European Association for the Study of Diabetes, and the International Diabetes Foundation.

Education & Affiliations

Dr. Bradley received his Masters in Public Health (MPH) in Epidemiology at the University of Washington, his Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine (ND) from Bastyr University, and his Bachelor's of Science (BS) in Chemical Engineering from North Carolina State University, where he graduated summa cum laude. Dr. Bradley remains an Affiliate Associate Professor in the Department of Pharmaceutics at the University of Washington. 

Additionally, he is a member of the Washington Association of Naturopathic Physicians, American Association of Naturopathic Physicians, the European Association for the Study of Diabetes, and the American Diabetes Association. Currently he is also a member of the Diabetes Advisory board for Prevention magazine, and the Associate Editor of the International Journal of Naturopathic Medicine.
