Bastyr graduates honored as Seattle-area "Top Docs" by Seattle Magazine

Seattle Magazine's Top Docs 2009 issueBastyr University graduates have once again been recognized among the top physicians in the Seattle area. For the second time in as many years, Dan Labriola, ND ('85), and Brian Perry, ND/MS ('04), LAc, are listed as "Top Doctors 2009" in Seattle Magazine's honor roll of the best physicians in the city. Dr. Labriola made the list as a "naturopathic specialist," while Dr. Perry was named as a "Top Doc" under both the "acupuncture" and "naturopathy" categories. The list identifies 389 physicians under 109 specialties.

Dr. Labriola is the director of Northwest Natural Health, an integrative specialty care clinic he founded in 1985. He also works as a consultant to a number of areas hospitals — including Seattle Children's Hospital, Swedish Medical Center and Highline Medical Center — specializing in the appropriate use of alternative and complementary medicine (CAM) therapies for patients undergoing conventional medical treatments.

A primary care physician who specializes in acupuncture, Dr. Perry is gaining recognition as a leader in the field of sports therapy — specifically natural performance enhancement, sports nutrition and treatment of sports injuries. Along with his general practice, he also has a special interest in neurological and orthopedic disorders, and chronic disease.

The magazine's 9th annual Top Doctors list is based on responses to a survey mailed to more 10,000 physicians throughout the Puget Sound area, as well as a variety of complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) providers. The survey asked respondents to name the provider they would seek out or recommend to their loved ones in 110 specialty areas, regardless of hospital, clinic or health plan affiliation. The list was created using more than 10,000 nominations for 4,050 physicians.
