NEWS RELEASE BASTYR UNIVERSITY'S 10TH ANNUAL HAUNTED TRAILS CELEBRATIONFrightful festivities on University's Kenmore campus Fridays and Saturdays, October 17, 18 and 24, 25 September 19, 2008 – (Kenmore, Washington) Bastyr University, a leader in natural health arts and sciences education, is pleased to announce the return of "Haunted Trails," an annual Halloween extravaganza held in the dark and eerie forest behind Bastyr University's Kenmore campus. This year's event will run from 5:30 to 10 p.m. the weekends of October 17-18 and 24-25 and feature fun and frightful activities for the whole family. Since its inception in 1998, Bastyr University's Haunted Trails has grown in size and popularity. Last year, the event attracted more than 4,000 guests from throughout the greater Seattle area. All proceeds support Bastyr University's study abroad programs, including the acupuncture and Oriental medicine school's annual trip to study holistic medicine in China. The annual fundraiser is produced entirely by dedicated volunteer teams of Bastyr University students, faculty and staff. Free event parking is available on the Bastyr campus. Highlights of the event include: Haunted Trails TourComplete with ghosts, ghouls and goblins, the Haunted Trails tour through the forest offers frights and delights around every corner for guests 8 years of age and older. The trail is set up this year with brand-new terrifying twists and turns. Cost: $10 for the 17th and 18th, $12 for the 24th and 25th. Receive $1 off with a can or dry food donation. Time: Ticket sales begin at 6:45 p.m. and tours start at 7 p.m. Trick or Treat Trail and Halloween Story TimeLess-scary options are available for families and children under the age of 8, including a fun Trick or Treat Trail where children can enjoy a "lighter" version of the Haunted Trails tour and receive special Halloween treats. Cost: $3 per child. Time: Ticket sales start at 5:15 p.m. and tours start at 5:30 p.m. Children can head inside for Halloween Story Time after walking the Trick or Treat Trail. Story time begins at 7 p.m. with a different Halloween tale told each night. Cost is $1 per child. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Supernatural Spookfest CarnivalOnce again, the University will host a carnival for guests to enjoy before or after their Haunted Trails tour. Carnival activities include face painting, fortune tellers and a variety of other food and activity booths. Time: 6 p.m. until last trail tour. Cost: Entrance is free. Individual activity booths may include a cost. Hades Labyrinth (NEW)A new addition to the annual Halloween festivities, Hades Labyrinth is a 2,400-square-foot maze that visitors must find their way through as they are visited by spooks and specters along the way. Not for children under 8. Time: 7 p.m. until last trail tour. Scarecrow's Tale Hayride (NEW)Travelers will hear a spine-tingling ghost story while enjoying a hayride ride through the fields behind Bastyr University.
