Bastyr University “March-es” Right Along

The University welcomes the spring season with a number of fresh events.

While spring does not officially begin until the March 20, we at Bastyr University are already taking steps to ensure that when the seasons change, many things will be growing at our Washington and California campuses and clinics. Here is a look at some of what’s happening:

California Clinic Names New Director

In San Diego, we are excited to announce that Erica Oberg, ND,  MPH, was recently named the new director for the clinic at Bastyr University California, providing solid leadership for staff and progressive thinking for patients. Check back for more news from Bastyr University Clinic soon.

Living Naturally Lecture Series

At Bastyr Center for Natural Health, our teaching clinic in Seattle, we continue hosting our popular free lecture series, Living Naturally. Open to the public, upcoming presentations include Personal Growth: Psychosynthesis, A Whole-Person Approach on March 9; Eating with the Seasons in Chinese Medicine on March 21; and Be Your Own Boot Camp! on April 13. Each is sure to be a big hit for those yearning to educate themselves in the many aspects of natural medicine.

Spring Break with the Mariners

Though our students will have a break in March, most of them will not be sitting on the beach relaxing. Many will be busy studying, volunteering, traveling and working on their future careers. For example, acupuncture and Oriental medicine students Rebecca Berkson, Josh Jangula and Engracia Tharp will spend their “break” in Peoria, Arizona, providing integrative medical care to the Seattle Mariners through the University’s venture grant program.

Spring for Health Luncheon 2013

In a few short weeks, we will once again host our annual Spring for Health Luncheon at the Seattle Fairmont Olympic Hotel. The event, which raises money to provide uncompensated care at our clinics, will be hosted by KING5-TV (NBC, Seattle) news anchor Jean Enerson. This year’s keynote speaker is Victoria Sweet, MD, PhD.  Dr. Sweet is the perfect person to address our guests as she has made it her life’s mission to provide medical care for the poor and chronically ill in San Francisco.

As winter quickly turns to spring, it is heartening to see so much already sprouting at Bastyr. We hope you take the time to join us as we strive to continue growing, learning and helping.
