The Bastyr University California Countdown Continues...

On September 14, 2012, Bastyr University California welcomes its first class of more than 50 naturopathic doctoral (ND) students to the state's first and only regionally accredited school for naturopathic medicine.

This month we’re about to unwrap the best gift of all as we continue the yearlong celebration of Dr. John Bastyr’s centennial birthday: the grand opening of our California campus in San Diego.

On September 14, 2012, we welcome our first class of nearly 50 naturopathic doctoral (ND) students to the state’s first and only regionally accredited school for naturopathic medicine and we could not be more proud.

Among the festivities planned for the Bastyr University California Grand Opening will be an official program at 1:30 p.m., which is open to the public.

The event, from 1-4 p.m., will be hosted by former KOMO4-TV (ABC, Seattle) and current KGTV-10 (ABC, San Diego) News and Weather Anchor Robert Santos. Mr. Santos is the perfect choice to help kick off the day’s events, since he has the distinction of being one of the very few people I know of who has a connection to the two cities in which Bastyr University operates, and has personally visited our Seattle-area clinic as a patient. Following the program, the celebration continues with music, food and public tours of the building for anyone interested in learning more.

All of the pieces are in place for a successful first year and beyond as we have visualized, prepared and planned for the California campus for years. In addition to having world-class staff and faculty, led by Vice President Moira Fitzpatrick, PhD, ND, FICPP, CHT, Bastyr University California is located in an area rich with businesses and schools interested in natural and integrative medicine - one of many reasons why we believe San Diego is the perfect choice for our California location.

We hope you will mark your calendars for this event, attend if able and continue to check back here for more exciting news to come from both campuses in the coming weeks since there promises to be many more presents to unwrap for our community.

In Health,

Daniel K. Church, PhD

Bastyr University President
