Computers:
Sixteen Pentium PC computers are available in the library. Patrons can use the MacRepertory and RADAR homeopathic programs, the IBIS naturopathic database, the Food Processor diet analysis program as well as a number of other specialized databases. Word processing is also available. All the computers have internet and MEDLINE access using Internet Explorer. Laser prints cost 10 cents per page. Computer use by community members is restricted during peak student-use hours.
Interlibrary Loans (ILL):
The Bastyr University library is a member of the National Network of Libraries of Medicine (NNLM) and is part of the DOCLINE interlibrary loan system through the National Library of Medicine (NLM) at the NIH.
The library will submit ILL requests from those affiliated with Bastyr to the National Library of Medicine or another appropriate library for materials not available here or at the University of Washington's Health Sciences Library. In some cases a fee may be assessed for this service depending on the amount charged by the lending library.
Other libraries may make ILL requests of Bastyr University for journal articles only (we do not loan books). Our interlibrary loan fees are as follows:
- $11.00 per article request
- $5.00 additional fee for faxing materials.
Libraries may make requests of us by phone, email, fax, or DOCLINE (WAUBUH).

Reserving a Book:
Bastyr students, staff and faculty may place a hold on a book which is checked out and receive notification when the item is available.
Orientations:
The library provides orientations to new users (students or others), including instruction on the use of specialized databases.
Audiovisual Equipment:
The library also has a slide viewer, an X-ray viewer, a TV/VCR. Other AV equipment available for use within the building include a video camera, a portable radio, and a slide projector. Equipment can be reserved in advance.
Copy Machines:
Two card operated copy machines are located in the library and one coin operated machine is located nearby. Copies are 5 cents per page.
