Bastyr University is currently seeking a part-time Web Developer to round out our team of eleven close-knit IT staff members. This person will be an independent contributor in a team environment and will assist Web Marketing and Applications Team in updating university and center web sites. Create and assist in creating web pages and web-based applications according to requirements. Web Developer will create and edit graphics, images and flash presentations for use on Web sites, banner advertisements and e-mail newsletters. Assist in defining user interface guidelines including creative direction from technical, design, accessibility, usability and practicality of implementation perspectives.
Qualifications
2-year Degree in computer sciences or equivalent experience needed. Strong graphic and production skills preferred. Prefer one or more years of experience developing and maintaining a multi-page Internet Web site in a fast-paced business environment. Must be proficient at hand-coding XHTML, HTML and CSS and one or more server-side scripting languages (i.e. ASP, ASP.NET, PHP, CGI, PL, Java, CFM). Must be proficient in creating and maintaining database driven web pages using MySQL or MS SQL. Working knowledge Windows, XML/XSL, content management systems, authentication, authorization, encryption, web servers, database servers, and networking a plus. Must have intermediate knowledge of Photoshop or equivalent graphic software. Some creative experience with Flash, Acrobat, a layout program such as Illustrator and/or deploying videos online is also required. Web 2.0 and social networking experience of any kind (as a programmer or user) is a plus as is experience with any aspect of web marketing.
