Bastyr Center for Natural Health
The largest natural medicine clinic in the Pacific Northwest, with approximately 35,000 patient visits annually, Bastyr Center for Natural Health is the teaching clinic of Bastyr University. The clinic is located in the Fremont/Wallingford area of Seattle and offers an array of natural health care services for any age group or demographic.
What Kind of Doctor Will I See?
Bastyr Center provides a teaching vehicle for the University as well as quality health care for the community. Graduate students studying naturopathic medicine, acupuncture and Oriental medicine, and nutrition receive hands-on patient care experience at the clinic through our Team Care model. Patients in Team Care see a licensed practitioner and two to three advanced student clinicians who ensure individualized treatments and generous practitioner time. Patients can also make one-on-one appointments to see physicians through Practitioner Care.
How Can Natural Health Care Help?
Natural health care is particularly effective for the prevention of, and relief from, chronic and degenerative health conditions. Commonly treated conditions include: fatigue, depression, colds and the flu, menopausal symptoms, stress-related conditions, allergies and asthma, cardiovascular disease, high blood pressure, digestive problems, ulcers and HIV/AIDS.
At Bastyr Center our providers explore issues such as lifestyle, history and diet from a holistic perspective. Experts on prevention and the self-healing process, they blend centuries-old knowledge of natural therapies with current research on health and human systems. Most importantly, our practitioners help patients become partners in their own health care, teaching them how to gain control of their health and encouraging them to actively make decisions regarding their care.

Patients with cancer who are under the care of a medical doctor can receive complementary care at Bastyr Center. In addition to the services offered at the Center, the Bastyr Integrative Oncology Research Center (BIORC) provides comprehensive integrative cancer care at the Bastyr University campus in Kenmore, Washington. The center offers research participants adjunctive treatments, such as acupuncture, nutritional guidance, herbal remedies and counseling, all in collaboration with local conventional oncologists.
Established through a grant from Cleavage Creek Winery, BIORC is currently working with the University of Washington and Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center on studies to evaluate the outcomes of integrative cancer care.
