Employment - Practitioner
Wage: Volunteer
Alternative Healthcare Access Campaign is seeking practitioner volunteers: SEATTLE 1-2 times per month, 4 hour shifts. AHACs mission is to increase the accessibility of quality alternative healthcare for homeless and low-income people. We do this by coordinating & developing direct service programs in 6 social justice sites in the Seattle area which provide alternative healthcare options. AHAC provides information & support to practitioners, activists, members of the homeless & low-income communities, and others who share our mission of increasing access to alternative care. We also track and compile research on the efficacy and cost-effectiveness of alternative health care advocates for appropriate healthcare public policy. Many of our practitioners are assisted by Bastyr students and others interested in natural medicine in the Seattle area. We are currently seeking licensed massage practitioners, acupuncturists, chiropractors, naturopathic doctors, nutritionists, and herbalists as well as board members. If you are interested in joining our mission or learning more, please contact Nico at ahacseattle[at]gmail[dot]com.
OUR PHILOSOPHY
Access to quality healthcare is a right, not a privilege, and it should not be denied or limited because of economic status. Holistic healthcare practices such as acupuncture & oriental medicine, naturopathy, massage therapy, clinical nutrition, botanical medicine, midwifery, and homeopathy are important options in modern healthcare and should be available to all. Homeless and low-income people have the right to participate in the creation of public policies and programs that affect their access to healthcare.
