Horses bring a unique energy, joy and playful nature to their interactions with humans as well as with each other. Observing their social behaviors helps us to discover and develop mindfulness, better communication skills and social sensitivity. This workshop is designed to help healthcare practitioners and students develop an awareness of the subtleties of self-presentation and communication which are necessary for a positive provider-patient relationship. Our interpersonal skills, as much as the factual clinical information, influence the quality and effectiveness of these relationships.

Most of the restrictions in the body develop as a response to some form of trauma in the life of the client (including prenatal experiences). In CranioSacral Levels 1 and 2, the focus is on a biomechanical/structural approach to releasing restrictions found in the body, the cranium and the face. In Level 3, the focus shifts to another aspect of “restriction” in the body - the emotional response, which can also develop as a response to some form of trauma.

This innovative certification series, taught over two weekends, features a constitutional approach to the facial landscape, and presents detailed treatments for both face and body. It examines our constitutional blueprints (or archetypal patterns), combined with the Six Stages and Five Phases, to address a patient’s constitutional make-up, Chinese physiognomy, attitude, behavior and lifestyle choices. Using ancient Chinese texts (such as the Nei Jing, Ling Shu and Shang Han Lun), you will also gain insight into a patient’s dominant constitution, personal expression, complexion, and capacity for healthy aging. Don’t miss this opportunity to learn from these two talented teachers. Bastyr University is the only location in 2013 for the Archetypes certification throughout Canada and the U.S. Additionally, this is the only West Coast certification program Wakefield is offering this year.

Audit a Class @ Bastyr
Did you know that you (the general public) can take many of the University's regular academic courses, assuming extra seats are available and you have the required prerequisites?
You can either audit classes or take them for credit. These 11-week classes, usually held on weekdays, are available in the nutrition, culinary arts, exercise science, health psychology and herbal sciences programs.
