Program Spotlight: Health Psychology Program Delves Into Mind-Body Connections

Bastyr University's health psychology bachelor's degree completion program teaches students to understand such mind-body connections. The program's innovative curriculum is designed to blend the study of psychology with health and the healing arts. The degree also provides a solid foundation for pursuing both professional studies and graduate degrees in psychology and medicine. Learn more about Bastyr's health psychology program.

Recipe: Braised Fennel Pleases Even the Most Discerning Palates
Fennel, a native Mediterranean plant used widely in culinary traditions around the world, has shown a knack for calming even the most inconsolable of infants. That it would please the palates of adults, therefore, is no great surprise. Check out this recipe for braised fennel from one of our alumni's cookbooks, Charles Rosenberg's Kitchen to Yours. Fennel is readily available at most grocery stores on the West Coast and, when cooked, becomes sweet and has a meaty texture. Try this side dish with whole-wheat pasta and salmon and bring smiles to the faces of everyone at your table — children and adults alike.

America's Health Care

Be Heard on the Nation's New Health Care Plan
"This time, there is no debate about whether all Americans should have quality, affordable health care — the only question is, how?" President Barack Obama said recently of the biggest hurdle his administration faces in overhauling America's health care system. Encouragingly, Obama has said disease prevention and management will be one of the cornerstones of the plan. One option being discussed is requiring employers to cover preventive services. Even more promising, his administration wants to know what Americans think should be done. Don't miss your opportunity to be heard on the importance of including natural medicine in the plan. Learn more about the new administration's proposals and the role natural medicine can play in reforming health care.

A recent survey found 69 percent of cluster headache sufferers experienced a decrease in the intensity of the attacks while taking kudzu.
