Post-Baccalaureate Program in Nutrition

The post-bac program allows students with non-science backgrounds or students missing a significant number of classes to complete the necessary prerequisites for the MSN program at Bastyr University. Admissions into the post-bac program does not guarantee admissions into the Master's program.

Prerequisites:

A bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university and:

General Chemistry with lab	2 course (science-major level)
Intro to Biology with lab	1 course
Intermediate Algebra	1 course (or placement exam)

Post-Bac Curriculum:

Students must maintain a B average to remain in good standing in the program; however, the MSN/DPD program is more competitive and students will need to acheive a higher prerequisite GPA.

Organic Chemistry with lab

Anatomy and Physiology Series 1 - 3

Biochemistry 1 - 2 (lab is not required)

Intro to Nutrition¹

Developmental Psychology (MSNCHP and DPD students only)

Abnormal Psychology (MSNCHP students only)

Whole Foods Production² (graduate level)

This course is not offered at Bastyr University. This course is a prerequisite for the master's program and can be taken concurrently at a local community college.
While post-bac students are allowed to take Whole Foods Production and elective credits towards the master's degree, they are not allowed to take any other MSN core curriculum.

MSN application

Students interested in applying to the post-bac program should use the MSN application and follow the directions for the MSN degree application process.

In order to be considered for admittance to an MSN graduate program post-bac students must submit a third letter of reference from a Bastyr core-faculty member by the end of winter quarter. Post-bac students do not need to submit a new application for entry into any MSN programs.
