Cancer: An Integrative Approach "I wrote this book for the general public as a way to provide more information about cancer treatment alternatives in easy to understand language," says John A. Catanzaro, ND, author of Cancer: An Integrative Approach, and featured speaker at an April book-signing on campus. Catanzaro 's book focuses on facilitating recovery by addressing the emotional needs and spiritual well-being of each individual rather than dwelling on the disease process or prognosis. Catanzaro, a 1995 Bastyr alumnus, assists the reader in understanding the many natural options available for prevention, testing and healing, what risk factors are involved, and the benefits and disadvantages of various conventional and alternative treatments. Juicing for Health and The Coconut Diet Prolific author and Bastyr board of regents member, Cherie Calbom, MS, presented juicing techniques from her popular The Juice Lady's Guide to Juicing for Health on May 12 in the Bastyr auditorium. Calbom, a 1991 graduate of the university's nutrition program, is internationally known for her many books on the benefits of freshly juiced fruits and vegetables, as well as her numerous television appearances. At the heart of her Guide to Juicing for Health are hundreds of powerful juicing recipes targeted for specific ailments. Calbom has just completed her 13th book, The Coconut Diet: Three Low-Carb Weeks to a Slimmer You. Published by Warner Books, The Coconut Diet is based on the amazing ability of coconut's medium-chain triglycerides to raise metabolism and support weight loss. Look for its release in January 2005.
