This certification integrates the philosophy and treatment of facial acupuncture “archetypes” with a practical hands-on approach for both facial and constitutional treatment strategies using the Eight Extraordinary meridians; hormonal and root treatments; psychoemotional points; and “ashi” motor and trigger points.
The insight gained from this creative synergy of approaches can enrich our understanding of the ancient texts, and likewise provide a workable format for unique constitutional and facial needling protocols. How do we understand the ancient classical texts, incorporate the information into grounded and effective treatments, and then integrate them successfully into our acupuncture practice? The way we answer this question is a measure of our comprehension of Chinese medicine, and our ability to enhance the effectiveness of our facial acupuncture treatments with new skills.
You will be introduced to practical acupuncture applications which include charts and treatment diagnosis using “ashi”; trigger and motor points for each of the three Yang stages (Taiyang, Shaoyang, and Yangming), and each of the three Yin stages (Taiyin, Shaoyin and Jueyin). In addition, you will receive instruction in hormonal treatments for the Eight Extraordinary meridians, yin support points, psychoemotional needling protocols, benefits and contraindications. You will also learn to apply the three levels of treatment; explore the archetypal qualities for each stage; receive lifestyle recommendations; and practice topical Chinese herbal protocols with soothing botanicals, Five Element essential oils and creams for the face.
Upon completion of the training you will be able to:
