How and when we eat our food is as important as what we are putting in our bodies. We will explore the importance of experiencing all six tastes in our diet, keeping our ‘agni’ (digestive fire) strong, the importance of daily rhythms and attuning our senses toward the subtler energetics of food, spices and herbs. You will learn how specific foods affect our constitution (unique balance of Vata, Pitta and Kapha) physically, emotionally and mentally.
Through listening to our body’s messages and connecting to nature and our food, nourishing our body and digestion is a natural, simple and delightful experience. Beyond just chemistry and physiology, Ayurveda awakens a reverence for nourishing the body that tantalizes our senses and spirit. You can look forward to: experiencing vedic practices to strengthen digestion, tasting foods, grinding spices and leaving with recipes and menus to get started.
Upon completion of the seminar you will be able to:
- Describe the qualities of Vata, Pitta and Kapha individuals
- Identify the appropriate foods and spices based on their associated qualities to balance Vata, Pitta and Kapha individuals
- List dietary guidelines for optimal nourishment and digestion
- Use the Ayurvedic healing principle of ‘like increases like and the opposite balances’ for yourself and your clients
