Give your friends and family the gift of relaxing massage. Anyone can learn the basic massage strokes to relieve aching muscles, relax a tense body, or just offer comfort. Feb 2, Sat, 9:30a.m. - 5:30p.m. Instructor: Sue Russell, LMP 6.5 HRs

You'll receive hands-on experience giving simple massage to the neck, shoulders, back, arms, legs, hands and feet.  Handouts and massage lotion are included. Since you will be practicing massage techniques during class, inviting a friend or partner is a must!  You enroll for full price and your friend/partner enrolls free!  Both persons must register. Open to those who are age15 and over.

Upon completion of this seminar you will be able to:

  • Identify the positive effects that massage has on the body.
  • Identify the “endangerment” areas that should not be massaged.
  • Identify when it is not appropriate to massage a friend or family member.
  • Demonstrate at least five simple massage strokes.
  • Achieve a level of self-confidence enabling you to offer simple massage to a friend or family member.

Sue Russell, LMP, has been a practicing massage therapist for 14 years. Over the last eight years she has taught massage workshops through community education programs as well as for hospice volunteers. Sue works full-time as a Bastyr academic manager where her passion for the healing arts blends with her avocation.

Cost Notes

Each couple to bring two pillows and one blanket. Wear layers, including shorts (that can be rolled up easily) and a sleeveless tank top (giving access to the neck and shoulders).

We will be taking a 45 minute lunch. Bring a sack lunch or eat in Bastyr’s dining commons.

Location:  Bastyr University Kenmore Campus, room 286. Bastyr University is housed in an older facility with fluctuating interior temperatures; it is advisable to wear layers. Also, Bastyr is a “fragrance-free” campus.
