Learn about recent studies showing how plant based extracts with UV protective properties will help you increase your sun protection through foods and topical application of fixed oils (fruit, seed and nut) and essential oils.  Take home an essential oil skin care formulation that you can use as well as the formula so you can make it yourself to prevent and reverse sun damaged skin. 

Upon completion of the seminar you will be able to:

• Explain how antioxidant properties in foods and plant extracts also contribute to sun protection properties
• Describe four compound groupings with high UV protection and at least five of the foods and oils that contain them
• List five essential oils, five foods, and five extracts that have been documented for protection against and reversal of sun induced UV damage
• Formulate a topical blend using powerful antioxidant and sun protective essential oils and fixed oils

Jimm Harrison, Cosmetologist and Certified Aromatherapist

Jimm Harrison, cosmetologist and certified aromatherapist, founded the Phytotherapy Institute in 1995 to advance education in essential oil and plant therapy. He was the first cosmetologist invited by Harvard University and MIT to discuss the impact of essential oils in skin care. Harrison has been conducting certification programs and lectures in essential oil therapy for accredited massage, spa therapy, cosmetology and medical esthetic institutions across the country since 1993, including the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Harvard Medical School, and Massachusetts College of Pharmacy. He is the author of Aromatherapy: Therapeutic Use of Essential Oils for Esthetics, and has developed natural/organic skin care products for the professional and retail markets.
