Join this informative class that will give you tools to battle Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD). Learn natural techniques for yourself or your patients, from ancient to state-of-the-art, which include light therapy, meditation, diet, and plant-based formulas. Description:  We will discuss mood enhancing herbs and supplements, as well as aromatherapy oils, which will uplift the spirit during the dark, gloomy winter months. Also learn natural techniques of light therapy and meditation that will guide you and your patients back to mental balance. 

Upon completion of this seminar you will be able to:

  • Describe at least one rationale for using dietary supplements in SAD
  • Describe the action of at least two supplements in SAD
  • Describe the action of at least two herbs in SAD
  • Identify at least two personal opportunities to use a natural approach to coping with SAD, including method and management

Location: Bastyr University Kenmore Campus, room # 286. Bastyr University is housed in an older facility with fluctuating interior temperatures; it is advisable to wear layers. Also, Bastyr is a “fragrance-free” campus.

Audience: The seminar content has been designed for licensed health care professionals; however, the general public is invited to attend as well.

Karta Purkh Singh Khalsa, DN-C, RH, CC, is one of the today’s foremost natural healing experts. As one of a very few clinicians with 40 years in the natural health field, he has a wealth of experience teaching and using healing herbs, vitamins and minerals, and medicinal foods in real life situations.

Khalsa, the national president of the American Herbalists Guild, is the author of over 3,000 published health articles and has written or edited 30 books on cooking, herbalism and health.
