What are the Health Risks of Genetically Modified Foods and Organisms?

Les Berenson, MD, a board-certified physician in internal medicine, a leader in preventive and wellness medicine, and co-chair of GMO Free-Washington, will lead a discussion on the health risks of genetically modified foods and organisms during this event sponsored by the Center for Health Policy and Leadership.

The event will begin with a documentary on GMO health risks by Jeffrey Smith, director of the Institute For Responsible Technology. Following the documentary, Smith will be linked in to give a live, 10-minute update on the latest GMO research and concerns. There also will be an opportunity to learn how to become more active in the national debate around GMOs.

Smith is the author of two books: Seeds of Deception, which documents "how biotech companies mislead legislators and safety officials to put the health of society at risk," and Genetic Roulette, which describes "65 health dangers linking GM foods to toxic and allergic reactions, infertility, and damage to internal organs studied in lab animals."
