Naturopathic veteran Olehausen to Lead California Campus

Veteran naturopathic doctor and educator Joni Olehausen, ND, will step into the top role at Bastyr University California, becoming associate dean for naturopathic medicine at the campus.

“I am honored to continue to serve Bastyr as the associate dean at Bastyr University California,” said Dr. Olehausen. “This position presents new opportunities for me to contribute to the tremendous growth and development of the new campus. I’ve really enjoyed working with students, staff and faculty at the Kenmore campus and look forward to building new relationships with the Bastyr community as I transition to San Diego.”

Dr. Olehausen currently serves as associate dean for clinical education and associate professor in Kenmore, Washington. She previously served as both the dean of medical education and the dean of clinical education at Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine in Tempe, Ariz.  In addition, Dr. Olehausen served for a decade as a commissioned officer with the U.S. Army Reserve, earning the rank of captain.

Dr. Olehausen begins her new role this month, in time to great the campus's new class.

It lies within walking distance of the San Diego Coaster commuter train (which connects to more light-rail lines), and is within a short drive of the University of California-San Diego, Scripps Mercy Hospital and the VA San Diego Medical Center.
