We're happy to confirm that the California campus building will include a teaching clinic, Bastyr Natural Health Clinic. It will offer three treatment rooms and Bastyr faculty supervisors. The plan is to start small and expand the clinic in the coming years. The 2012 opening allows students to begin clinical observation in their first year, a feature of the redesigned naturopathic medicine curriculum.

With accreditation secured and applications flowing in, we can answer more of the California questions we're receiving.

Tuition will be the same as for the naturopathic medicine program at the Kenmore campus. Please see our graduate tuition page for more details.

Financial aid opportunities will be the same at both campuses, including both federal sources and University scholarships. Please see our Fund Your Graduate Degree page.

The Federal School Code required on federal forms is identical for both campuses: 016059.

We're happy to announce that we have received full accreditation for the San Diego campus from the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU). This is an important step in our preparation, and it makes Bastyr University California the only regionally accredited naturopathic medicine institution in California. We will have more information soon on how this smoothes the application and financial aid process, but we wanted to share the good news right away. Spaces are still available for fall 2012 enrollment.

The San Diego campus will include a dedicated library space with a small computer lab and room for studying. Selected journals and a core collection of biomedical and natural health textbooks will supplement electronic access to full-text science and medicine databases. Students will have on- and off-site access to primary e-resources we offer in Kenmore, including MEDLINE (PubMed), MDConsult, FIRSTConsult, Science Direct, Natural Standard and others. Students will also have access to the assistance of the Kenmore library staff.

Here’s a friendly reminder that applications for the Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine programs in San Diego, California, and Kenmore, Washington, have a priority deadline of February 1. We will continue accepting ND applications after that on a space-available basis, but it’s best to apply by Feb. 1 for priority consideration. You’ll also have more flexibility for interview-scheduling that way.

Bastyr's naturopathic medicine program will offer a revamped curriculum in fall 2012 at both the Kenmore and San Diego campuses. The change reduces classroom hours and gives students clinical training earlier in their education (more background). Here's a summary of what it looks like:

About

This blog contains the most recent updates and developments for Bastyr University's San Diego campus, which opened in fall 2012.

The San Diego campus and clinic is located at 4106 Sorrento Valley Boulevard in the center of the city's life sciences cluster and approximately 14 miles north of downtown.

It lies within walking distance of the San Diego Coaster commuter train (which connects to more light-rail lines), and is within a short drive of the University of California-San Diego, Scripps Mercy Hospital and the VA San Diego Medical Center.
