Bastyr University California Hires Dr. Tabatha Parker

The first core faculty member of Bastyr University California has been hired: Please welcome Tabatha Parker, ND, the co-founder and executive director of Natural Doctors International (NDI), a global health organization advancing naturopathic medicine through service, education, networking and promoting holistic health care for all.

“The opening of the first accredited naturopathic medical school in California is monumental, and the opportunity to be a part of that team is a tremendous honor and fulfills my vision of the future of medicine,” says Dr. Parker, who has worked as the medical director at NDI’s free clinic on the island of Ometepe in Nicaragua for the past seven years.

In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Parker is a writer, humanitarian and social justice activist. She is an active member of the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians (AANP). In 2011, she was named an Utne Reader Visionary, awarded to people who “don’t just concoct great ideas, but also act on them.”

“We are so excited to have a member of the faculty who is an expert in global health, who has contributed so much to naturopathic medicine and who is innovative and dedicated to making quality health care available to all people,” says Moira Fitzpatrick, PhD, ND, FICPP, CHT, vice president for Bastyr University California. “Dr. Parker is an amazing teacher and her leadership skills will be an asset to our growing California community.”
