Randi Carter
Seattle, WA
Briefly describe your practice (business model):
Delicious Planet is an organic, low-fat, whole foods-based delivery service. We aim for at least 90% organic; even our oils and spices. We also have a Custom Pure filtering system for our water that we cook with. I was so inspired by Mary Bowman and Cynthia Lair in "Whole Foods Production" class to show people how delicious whole foods could be!
How is natural medicine accepted in your region?
Thank goodness that we are doing very well in Seattle, which I just read is the 2nd fittest city in the nation!
What do you find to be the most interesting aspect of practicing?
It is so amazing to experience what it feels like to be doing something that you love, that people really appreciate and that is making a difference in your community.
What are your overall marketing strategies?
Networking with healthcare practitioners. Also, I found it very important to get a great graphics designer and Webmaster.
What keeps you motivated to practice?
I am committed to the health of people and the earth. Also, I am so touched by the e-mails I receive from people who have had life changing results by eating our food!
What's next for you? Where would you like to place your energies?
I want to serve as many people as I can so I need to focus on how to expand. That is still in the works. I also have been doing a lot of corporate catering so I hope to affect a broader market with organic food and good nutrition!
What would you like to see from Bastyr University Alumni Department?
More media attention on Bastyr and what its graduates are doing for their communities.
What types of CEU topics would you be interested in seeing Bastyr host?
LIOS speakers on topics such as leadership, business management, etc. Advice from successful Bastyr graduates.
What would it take for you to get totally excited about returning to campus for the annual reunion?
An organic, fabulous dinner, a comedian or some other entertainment. Maybe door prizes?
What are some of your interests/hobbies outside of healing?
Yoga, reading, cooking, sewing, travel, Broadway musicals, learning to sing.
