Interviewed February 2004

Briefly describe your practice (business model):
I founded the Le Visage Wellness Center and Spa. We offer medical services as well as spa services such as massage, facials, waxing and make-up application. Our mission is to heal, transform, energize, rejuvenate, and to promote long-term health and beauty in a complete, service-oriented elegant and serene environment through a combination of leading-edge state-of-the-art technology and alternative medicine.

How is natural medicine accepted in your region?
In my region natural medicine seems to be widely accepted. I see roughly 8-12 patients a day. Even though most of my patients have their own primary physicians, after seeing me once they almost always decide that they want me to be their primary physician. Even though I do not accept insurance, I am still extremely busy and am usually booked 2-3 weeks in advance.

What do you find to be the most interesting aspect of practicing?
By having the power of three different medicines (naturopathic medicine, Oriental medicine and craniosacral therapy) I am constantly able to integrate and explore various aspects of each field. I am able to constantly challenge myself and expand my knowledge to help better my patients.

What are your overall marketing strategies?
Simply word of mouth.

What keeps you motivated to practice?
I am kept motivated to practice by the fact that I am able to learn something new on a daily basis, not to mention the results that I see each day with my patients. I believe it is the gratification that I receive from helping my patients every day that pushes me to stay at the cutting edge of this ever so changing and growing field.

What’s next; for you? Where would you like to place your energies?
At this time I am in the process of launching Physician’s Advance Formula, a line of supplements, which I have been formulating for the past two years. I am also traveling back and forth to Los Angeles where I have been co-hosting a television program with a reputable surgeon in the Bay area. Coming soon on our website we will have weekly newsletters as well as upcoming seminars and recipes for the month.

What are some of your interests/hobbies outside of medicine?
Prior to attending medical school I was a 5-star chef at two different restaurants that I owned. From time to time at the Wellness Center, I hold cooking classes for my patients to educate them about the natural way of cooking light and healthfully. I have always had an affinity for the outdoors and have constantly made time in my life to stay active. In what little time I have left, I maintain my green house and herb garden.
