Briefly describe your personal history: I was born in Omaha, NE and
grew up there until I was 10, then moved to Renton Washington. I graduated
from Kentridge High School in Kent, and went to college at Evergreen State
College in Olympia. There, I found out about acupuncture and knew it was what
I wanted to learn and practice. Then I went to Bastyr College, at that time,
and graduated with a BS in OM and an MSA.
I have been
married for 11, almost 12, years to George Sinfield – my
best friend.
Briefly describe your practice (business model): I practice acupuncture
and Chinese herbal medicine as a sole proprietor.
How is natural medicine accepted in your region? Very well in Washington
state. There is great insurance reimbursement, which helps, and a lot of people
who want to try alternatives, and really heal in body, mind, and spirit.
What do you find to be the most interesting aspect of practicing? Talking
to people about their illnesses and then seeing them transform through the
healing process.
What do you consider your winning business strategies? Word of mouth
- Having great patients who feel better and give referrals.
What keeps you motivated to practice? Especially in Chinese medicine,
there is so much depth to it and so much to learn. If you practice with an
open heart and mind, you receive so much back.
What is/has been your most useful resource? Finding great teachers
to keep my understanding and skills growing.
What’s next; for you? Where would you like to place
your energies? I am working on my Doctorate, and would like to teach
more to help train great, caring practitioners.
