Maureen Williams, ND ('95)
White River Junction, VT
Interviewed Fall 2003
Briefly describe your practice (business model):
I have a private solo practice.
How is natural medicine accepted in your region?
I find a growing acceptance here although there is still no insurance reimbursement available.
What do you find to be the most interesting aspect of practicing?
Simple treatment protocols (usually nutritional) having profound influence on health and disease symptoms.
What are your overall marketing strategies?
Lots of public speaking and occasional bursts of newspaper advertising, and lots of networking.
What keeps you motivated to practice?
Patients happy with their care.
What’s next for you? Where would you like to place your energies?
I have a new daughter so family is the highest priority now. But professionally I am working on developing a new practice setting in a conventional clinic where I hope to work in an integrative fashion with family practice doctors.
What are some of your interests/hobbies outside of medicine?
Hiking, biking, skiing...I also have an abiding interest in Central America and have traveled, studied and worked extensively in Guatemala and Honduras.
