Luke Huber, ND ('98)
Salem, NH
Interviewed Fall 2003
Briefly describe your practice (business model):
It is a natural health clinic with a focus on complementary cancer care, allergies and chronic disease.
How is natural medicine accepted in your region?
Much patient education is needed in the community. The majority here does not know what a naturopathic doctor is. Health insurance is a major concern of many potential patients and I believe as the number of insurance carriers who reimburse for naturopathic care increase, there will be a significant increase in utilization of our services here.
What do you find to be the most interesting aspect of practicing?
The patients, their unique conditions, and creating naturopathic treatment plans to support their health.
What are your overall marketing strategies?
I do some newspaper advertising, some local events (open houses), make contact with cross-referring doctors, and encourage patient word of mouth marketing.
What keeps you motivated to practice?
I really enjoy having my own practice and working on it as much or as little as I like.
What’s next for you? Where would you like to place your energies?
I am interested in continuing to grow the practice.
What are some of your interests/hobbies outside of medicine?
Getting together with good friends in NYC. Exploring the area with lots of little trips to the coast, mountains, islands, Montreal, Boston, etc.
