Janna Rome, MS ('96), LAc
Freeland, Washington
Interviewed Summer 2003
Briefly describe your practice (business model):
I’m a solo practitioner working Monday through Thursday in a rural
island community. I teach at the Bastyr Center for Natural Health on Friday
supervising AOM students.
How is natural medicine accepted in your region?
Very positively. Our local MD refers quite a few patients to see me.
What do you find to be the most interesting aspect
of practicing?
Building and sustaining relationships with people knowing that I am a
useful part of their lives in staying well and vital.
What are your overall marketing strategies?
At this stage it is word of mouth, the yellow pages and referrals from
other health practitioners.
What keeps you motivated to practice?
The joy of always learning and then putting in to practice better ways
to help the people who come to me for help.
What’s “next” for you? Where would
you like to place your energies?
Possibly in the next decade of my life going to countries where health
care is minimal and teaching acupuncture there.
What are some of your interests/hobbies outside of
healing?
Music, travel, spiritual growth, handing out with my 2 golden retrievers,
Jesse and Clara.
