Briefly describe your practice (business model):
Independent contractor in an office with another ND. I specialize in women’s and children’s health.
How is natural medicine accepted in your region?
I live in New York State where there is not yet an ND license. There is a lot of public interest in natural medicine. However, naturopaths are not recognized as physicians and in general, people do not know that an ND is an expert in natural medicine. I practice in Connecticut where there is a license and natural medicine is more accepted.
What do you find to be the most interesting aspect of practicing?
Learning from each patient. I enjoy having students observe because I love to discuss cases.
What are your overall marketing strategies?
Website, lectures, advertisements in natural health directories, professional contacts
What keeps you motivated to practice?
Seeing patients feel better.
What’s next for you? Where would you like to place your energies?
I have several ideas: a practice nearer to home, a midwifery license, and writing articles.
What are some of your interests/hobbies outside of healing?
My baby, traveling
