Seattle, Washington
Interviewed June 2003
Kathleen and Sandi run a successful private practice called Nutrition Works, located in Seattle. They specialize in individualized nutrition consulting. Below is an interview with both of them about their careers.
Briefly describe your practice (business model):
We are nutrition consultants. We see clients with a variety of health issues and we assist them with long-term lifestyle change.
How is natural medicine accepted in your region?
Very well.
What do you find to be the most interesting aspect of practicing?
The variety!!!! We love the variety that private practice offers - we see patients individually, we present in corporate and community settings and we consult with food manufacturers as well.
What are your overall marketing strategies?
Word of mouth. Our community and corporate presentations are helpful for marketing. Lots of patients and physicians find us through our Web site.
What keeps you motivated to practice?
Our passionate belief that nutrition and lifestyle changes dramatically improve the quality of one's life! We love what we do.
What's next for you? Where would you like to place your energies?
We are excited about Kathleen's soon-to-arrive baby! We are enjoying the flexibility that our practice offers and we are happy to continue building the practice for now. We feel truly blessed!
What are some of your interests/hobbies outside of healing?
We both love international travel - and we make sure to each do that at least annually.
We love to be outdoors. Kathleen has a special love for animals. Sandi has a special love for hiking, biking and the sunshine. Our husbands (both named Mike) are a wonderful source of support for both the business and us.
