Steve Wangen, ND Steve Wangen, ND
Bothell, WA
Interviewed May 2003

Steve Wangen practices at EastWind Acupuncture & Holistic Medicine Clinic in Bothell with other Bastyr grads.

Briefly describe your practice (business model):
General family practice with a specialty in food allergies.

How is natural medicine accepted in your region?
Quite well.

What do you find to be the most interesting aspect of practicing?
The variety of conditions and concerns are a constant challenge, which keeps me going mentally. Plus, everyone is different, so each case is interesting. But maybe best of all is the opportunity to meet so many different people and help them to continue to do the things that they enjoy doing.

What are your overall marketing strategies?
Communicate with everyone you know, including patients, on a monthly basis. In my case that means a newsletter. Specialize - find a niche.

What keeps you motivated to practice?
The satisfaction that I get when patients get better and learn more about their health, plus knowing that there is always more to learn and that I can make a living doing it.

What's next for you? Where would you like to place your energies?
Expanding my business and doing more writing.

What are some of your interests/hobbies outside of healing?
Bicycling, traveling, and spending time with my family.
