Bonnie Marsh, ND ('84), LM
Interviewed Spring 2002
How is natural medicine accepted in your region?
There is more of a heightened awareness. The people in San Diego County have a much better educational success rate, as this area is a mecca of alternative medicine. I always suggest that people check out where a practitioner went to school. I receive a number of referrals from the AANP website.
What do you find to be the most interesting aspect of practicing?
I enjoy delivering babies as well as practicing homeopathic and pediatric medicine. Since I was young I knew that being a midwife was my calling. I also practice homeopathy and naturopathy.
What are your overall marketing strategies?
I started out by joining a wellness center. A short time later, I started my own practice and approximately one year ago built my current practice location. I occasionally give talks to the public. My practice has been built on word-of-mouth.
What keeps you motivated to practice?
It's my calling and I do it because I love it.
What's next for you? Where would you like to place your energies?
Staying solo in practice. I want to practice more homeopathy and naturopathy.
What would you like to see from Bastyr University?
An email tree so that alumni may be able to contact one another. I appreciate that the alumni pulse newsletter makes me feel connected. I enjoy keeping in touch with other alumni.
What are some of your interests/hobbies outside of healing?
Artwork. I do a lot of artwork such as stenciling, watercolors and gourd art. I also enjoy movies, theatre and drama, cycling, walking and just being outdoors.
