Haven't Applied Yet? You Still Have Time
If you're considering applying for a Bastyr program, it's not too late to submit your application to begin school in fall 2007. We are still taking applications for our BS programs in herbal sciences, exercise science and wellness, health psychology, and nutrition, as well as our BS/MS or MS in acupuncture and Oriental medicine. You also still have time to apply to graduate programs including nutrition, naturopathic medicine, and nutrition and clinical health psychology (MSNCHP). Please contact the Office of Admissions for more details and
visit our website.
Explore our Naturopathic Program by Participating in "Bastyr Experience"
Interested in the naturopathic medicine program? Don't miss "Bastyr Experience," a day-long program designed to bring you a comprehensive and intimate experience of Bastyr University's doctoral program in naturopathic medicine (ND). Come to Bastyr on Friday, June 1, and find out more about Bastyr's curriculum and campus. Space is limited, and only the first 50 prospective students to register will have a chance to be "students for a day" and sit in on classes, enjoy lunch with members of the Bastyr community, meet with admissions advisors, take a campus and garden tour, and attend a student panel and a case study.
Find out more about this event.
Sample Bastyr's Programs at "Bastyr Connection"
Where do you fit within the Bastyr "family"? Find out at "Bastyr Connection" on Thursday, August 23. This event, held in the evening to accommodate working adults, provides insight into all of our degree programs. You'll have a chance to talk to faculty, staff and students in your area(s) of interest, talk to financial aid officers and enjoy appetizers and beverages. In a survey from last year's event, 87 percent of attendees said the event met or exceeded their expectations and over 90 percent said it helped them to make a decision to apply to Bastyr. One attendee stated, "I loved all the people available to answer questions and just talk about the programs and the school as a whole. It was very familial and warm." Mark your calendar for August 23 and take this opportunity to connect with the Bastyr "family"! Stay tuned for more details.
Starting School in the Summer Brings Many Benefits
Summer can be a great time to ease into your studies, complete your program prerequisites or sign up for an elective course. In fact, about half of Bastyr's naturopathic medical students elect to start in the summer instead of fall. During summer quarter, which begins July 9, we offer several of the basic sciences prerequisite courses for both graduate and undergraduate programs. We also offer popular electives including the Cascade Herb Experience, Organic Gardening, Introduction to Backpacking and Whole Foods Production. It is a good time to get a head start on adjusting to student life and your new Bastyr "home." And, aside from that, summer is a great time to be in Seattle! Find out more about our "summer start" option by calling the Bastyr Office of Admissions at (425) 602-3330.
Friendly Reminder: Turn in Your Financial Aid Application Soon!
Have you had the best of intentions to complete your financial aid application, but it hasn't quite made it to the top of your “To Do” list yet? The good news is that you still have time to submit it. The earlier you turn it in, the earlier you will receive your award, but we will continue to accept financial aid applications throughout the summer. If you need help or have questions,
visit the financial aid section of our website or contact the Office of Financial Aid at (425) 602-3329.

Don't Miss Bastyr's Popular Herb and Food Fair in June
Bastyr University's most well-attended event, the annual Herb and Food Fair, consistently draws hundreds of natural medicine enthusiasts. This year's event, focusing on environmental health and awareness, is themed "A Natural Path to a Healthy Life." The keynote speaker will be Amanda McQuade Crawford, an herbalist with over 20 years of experience in private practice as well as a highly sought-after speaker on integrated health and herbal medicine. Come to this FREE event on Saturday, June 2 on Bastyr's campus to sample herbs and foods, purchase locally grown herbs and herbal products, watch cooking demos, enjoy live music and dancing, and walk through our beautiful garden.

Meet Tammy Metzger, Exercise Science Student
Tammy Metzger spent nearly a decade in a lucrative career in finance. During that time, she became a "workaholic and couch potato." After becoming disenchanted with her lifestyle, Metzger started searching for another path. That path turned out to be Bastyr's exercise science and wellness program, which not only inspired her to leave the couch, but turned her into a cycling coach! She has found a sense of balance and community at Bastyr that she was once missing, and as a work-study student in the Office of Admissions, her corporate-world experience is coming in handy! Find out about Tammy's journey to wellness in body, mind, and career -- and read her advice for incoming students.
February Open House Receives Rave Reviews
At this year's Graduate and Undergraduate Open House, 189 prospective students (and 107 of their friends) explored Bastyr University's programs – topping last year's attendance by 16 percent! The all-day event, held on February 17, gave prospective students a chance to spend time on campus learning about our programs, talking to admissions advisors, taking campus tours, finding out about financial aid and applying to programs. The day also included numerous popular demonstrations, including tai chi, acupuncture, stress-management techniques, and medicinal tea and herbal salve creation. The Graduate and Undergraduate Open House will take place again in February 2008, and many events are held throughout the year. Find out about the next admissions events, including June's "Bastyr Experience."
