Smart
Move:
Bastyr’s
teaching clinic moves to a bigger and brighter
location
Not
only are Bastyr’s advanced naturopathic
students receiving the best in clinical education,
but they’re now receiving it in a new space
especially designed to enhance their learning
while meeting patient needs.
In
late February, the new, improved Bastyr Center for Natural Health (BCNH) opened
its doors to appreciative patients and student
clinicians alike. Located in a new, beautifully
remodeled 32,000 square feet facility, BCNH is
now in a space that better meets the unique needs
of a medical clinic dedicated to natural health.
The
two-story structure boasts 40 patient care rooms,
excellent air quality and natural lighting throughout,
patient parking beneath the building, easy access
for patients with special needs, a two-person sauna
for therapeutic heat treatments, hydrotherapy rooms
and other features designed to facilitate patient
care and student training. Additionally, the newly
built-out space incorporates environmentally friendly
materials and systems, such as low-toxicity paints
and adhesives, cork and marmoleum (an all-natural
linoleum) floors, and an enhanced mechanical air-venting
system.
The
largest natural health clinic in the Northwest,
BCNH receives over 35,000 patient visits yearly.
Clinical services include general naturopathic
visits, nutrition counseling, homeopathy, physical
medicine and mental health counseling, as well
as acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine appointments.
Says
Jamey Wallace, ND, director of BCNH, “From
the beginning, we wanted a beautiful yet functional
teaching clinic, a site more conducive to delivering
quality care. Our dreams have come true. Students
will receive their training in the crown jewel
of natural medicine clinical education. And patients
will find a healing environment in a state-of-the-art
facility.” Read more about the clinical training program
