Naturopathic Medicine alumna and current dean of the School of Naturopathic Medicine
I am inspired daily by watching students learn and grow in their medical studies. As a clinical supervisor and physician at Bastyr Center for Natural Health, our University teaching clinic, I teach students how to incorporate a patient's body, mind and spirit into each treatment plan.
At Bastyr Center, students work with various patients and see a wide range of medical complaints. Because we use a naturopathic approach, students consider the whole person in their treatment plans. They are encouraged to listen enthusiastically and treat each patient with TLC, while providing leading-edge health care. The goal of treatment is to promote the body's ability to heal itself, rather than to suppress symptoms. Students learn multiple treatment approaches and, working with supervising faculty, create personalized health care plans for each patient.
The combination of class room and clinic learning offers students a comprehensive education that integrates medical science and the healing power of nature. Working at Bastyr Center gives students diverse, hands-on experience and incredibly well-rounded and in-depth medical training.
