Student Technology Resources at Bastyr University

At Bastyr University, we offer you the information you need in many formats, including booklets and handouts, CDs and an increasingly broad array of online possibilities.

The student portal (MyBU) is a great tool for staying in touch with what's happening at Bastyr and with your own studies. To keep it relevant, we tailor the portal to you in various stages of your journey as a student.

Before you are enrolled, you will have access to our prospective student portal, which includes general information about Bastyr. In the near future, prospective students will also be able to check the status of their applications online.

Once you have been accepted to one of our programs, you'll be given access to our new student portal, which offers access to a wealth of general information about Bastyr any time of the day or night. This includes orientation schedules, new student discussion boards, financial aid resources, student life information, on- and off-campus housing, the student newsletter The Pulse, and other campus resources.

Bastyr also provides every enrolled student with an email account, which alumni may keep for life. This includes 500 MB of storage and 24/7 remote access to email. We also provide file space on our servers (50MB per student), which may be accessed remotely at any time.

The MyBU current student portal offers access to everything in the new student portal, but also provides personalized access to grades, billing information, student schedule, and more. Some faculty members also post class materials.

While on campus, students can access a number of computers. Wireless computer access is available in 60 percent of our campus and 90 percent of our teaching clinic (Bastyr Center for Natural Health). There are 16 computer stations in the campus library lab, 25 computers in the campus computer lab, and 12 campus kiosks. There are 8 computers in the teaching clinic's library lab and 7 computers in the teaching clinic's review/preview room.

Computers in libraryThe campus library subscribes to about 250 print and online journals in areas such as nutrition, botanical medicine, homeopathy, midwifery, yoga and the biomedical sciences. A variety of electronic databases and specialized software programs complement the journal collection, including: ADAM Interactive Anatomy; AltHealth Watch; AMED; Cochrane Library, Consumerlab.com; MEDLINE (PubMed); Natural Medicines Comprehensive Database; Natural Standard; Proquest; PsycINFO; Food Processor, a diet analysis program; SPSS statistical software; the homeopathic programs, RADAR and MacRepertory; and in-depth clinical resources.

We are constantly working to improve students' technological resources and looking for ways to enhance the student experience at Bastyr.
