Jeff Harris, ND ('92)
Alumnus Jeff Harris, ND, initially set up his private practice in a medical doctor's clinic at the Medical Arts Building at Northwest Hospital one week after receiving his license. He left there after 2 years and moved his practice to the Greenlake neighborhood of Seattle with Dr. Francine Loeb, ND ('92).
Dr. Harris practices holistic medicine with a focus on the five different levels of health. The first level is the structural and biochemical aspects of physical wellness. The second level is electrical in nature and includes emotions and the nervous system. On the third and mental level beliefs, thoughts and attitudes affect health. Metaphysically, the fourth level reflects the realm of the Shaman working with dreams and archetypal images. The fifth level is spiritual. In his experience, calling on "Divine Light" can facilitate healing of all conditions through prayer, love, truth and openness. The more of these levels that can be included in the treatment of a person, the better the chances that real healing can occur.
Dr. Harris has succeeded in building a practice on word of mouth referrals from his successes and from other doctors. What keeps him practicing? According to Harris, "I was born to do this. This is what is right for me."
Dr. Harris has been mentored by such gurus as Dr. Walter Crinnion, ND ('82) and Dr. Turska, one of the founding fathers of NCNM and a great colleague of Dr. John Bastyr.
Dr. Harris's belief is that the future of medicine is in the healing of the soul. "This world is in such pain due to the pain of the individual. Individuals are in pain because they project their essential qualities onto others and never look inside to know themselves. When a person knows their soul they realize that we fit together like a mosaic with all our unique abilities, talents and gifts. When we bring these soul qualities to the world, it is a blessing for all and brings deep peace and healing to the world."
